Go behind the scenes with Joe Coffee's green buyer at Pulley Collective on the Brooklyn waterfront in Red Hook. Participants will learn the basics of the roasting process through a comparative roasting demonstration, examining three different roast profiles of a single coffee to explore the variables that affect flavor. By tasting the coffees side by side, participants get a closer look at how roasting can highlight a coffee's sweetness and complexity.
The class will include an overview of the cupping process, which is the industry standard method of tasting and evaluating coffee. In addition, this class also includes a tour of the roastery and a chance to explore each step of the production process.
Explorations in Roasting is a two and a half hour class. All materials are included in the price, and students will be able to take home coffee that is roasted during the class. No experience necessary.––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
